I know that keeping the mind active is crucial as we age as I have discovered through experience as a grandma. Our bodies grow with age and so does our mind at times. May forget to do something small or take longer to remember something. This does not mean to limit the use of our minds. Actually, we ought to keep our minds busy in simple and healthy ways all day long. It can also be used to teach us new words or new ideas. No one needs to read for hours and hours.
Active when getting older
It can help to read a little a day. When deciding on a book, it’s best to opt for something that feels comfortable and fun, as this prevents reading from becoming a chore. The mind also is benefited by writing. Writing enables us to think clearly and remember things. Can write about our day, feelings or things we want to do. Simple notes can be also be made for us. Handwriting can be soothing, and helps keep the brain stimulated. It’s a simple behavior that can be adopted as a way of living.
Another good way of strengthening the mind is to learn something new. We should never be too old to learn. It’s okay to take some time and learn slowly. It is not about being perfect. The aim is to provide the brain with a new line of thought. Learning can be refreshing, exciting and empowering. Overexposure of solitude may lead to a tired or dull mind. Other people can be a source of happiness and keep the brain occupied.

Doing simple brain activities can also help. Thinking, remembering or concentrating activities are beneficial to the mind. Care needs to be taken in selecting activities that are not too stressful. As with the body, the brain requires gentle exercise. It is better to do a little mental activity daily than to do much at once. In caring for the body, the mind is attended to as well. The brain requires rest, hence good sleep. These are healthy dietary suggestions and water consumption that can also help us feel clear and awake.

It can remind us of important things and can help us to avoid confusing things. Rest should also be allowed for us. Staying busy is not necessarily staying with mind. As a grandma I think that growing older can be a time of learning and fun too. It is important to be patient with ourselves and use our minds each day. Little actions can have a significant impact. Having a healthy and active mind can help us make the most of life, remain connected and more confident in becoming older.
