The plan starts when it gets nighttime. Pixie and the bird wait together. They plan and scrutinize. Initially, there is no intervention. The time flies slowly and the waiting is tiresome. Pixie begins to get weary. Although she would like to remain awake, she is unable to hold her eyes open. She sleeps, not following up with the plan. The bird remains alert a number of hours but appears uncertain on his/her part as well. The state of affairs is silent and lifeless.
This section of the narrative demonstrates the way things break down when one loses time. Pixie craved excitement but she never remained focused. Something strange then occurs. In the light is a real creature. It is weird and somewhat frightening. The silent atmosphere is transformed in a moment of tension. The bird perceives it initially, and responds with shock. The characters are both lost and confused. They did not think that the creature would really come out. Pixie understands that she was not prepared. It is an aspect of the story that depicts how imagination at times can come to life in the least place. It is also an indicator that it is alright to be curious but one should be ready.
