The Battle for Top Dog Shows A Funny Contest Between Brutus and Dexter

The two dogs were Brutus and Dexter, both dogs that lived on the same block. Brutus was a large brown dog, with thick legs, and a lusty bark. Dexter was a small white dog with running feets, and a few tricks. The two dogs were boastful and both believed that they were the most superior dogs in town. On a daily basis they were trying to establish which one of them should be referred to as the top dog. Their entertaining rivalry was made the popular amusement of all in their vicinity. One sunny morning in the park was the start of the struggle of the Brutus and Dexter. Brutus was also proud as he walked about with his chest high into the air.

Dexter was shortly running about him, and shouting at him. Brutus tried to make himself look so solemn, and so strong, that Dexter still persisted in creating stupid faces. Fight in the park, the two dogs were competing to out-wit each other thus causing laughter among the children in the park. The contest became bigger and more humorous since this day. Brutus by sheer force of size had a feeling that he won. He took pleasure in demonstrating how strong he was. He was able to draw big sticks and to jump past small fences. Very deep cries of a dog he would give in order to frighten off the other dogs. Dexter was not at all concerned about size. Speed and quick thinking was more important, he felt.

Dexter might get away at a greater speed than Brutus, and cower behind benches before Brutus even saw. This caused Brutus to be very angry, and to make all other people laugh. The order of things was now afternoons, and the two dogs were left together every afternoon, to have another race against each other. They galloped upon the grass, at other times. On other occasions they played to get the cakes or dribbled balls or even played to get cakes. Brutus never failed to take a strong point before initiating and winning a battle, yet Dexter always considered a great strategizing to win a battle.

The neighbors would enjoy their nonsensical bouts. The families would visit the park to find out what Brutus and Dexter would do next. Even the dogs of other breed seemed to be interested in the contest. Others screamed on in a manic fashion, to flatter Brutus, other ran round Dexter with shrill cries. It was a veritable store of vitality and humor whenever both contestants were observed simultaneously. Brutus and Dexter are in constant contest with each other but by slow conversational turns, they progress to be the best friends. They barked, competed with each other on a daily basis, but they also began to share their toys, and to lie down and sleep close by each other.

Brutus got an insight that being powerful was not all. Dexter too was brought to the realization that the fact that he was smart did not make him a better person. They collectively found that fun and friendship was more important than winning. The end result was that, in reality, nobody was in a position to actually decide on which dog was the best dog. Brutus was tough, assertive and Dexter was quick and clever. The two dogs were unique in their respective ways. They realized that the real winner was happiness and laughter the two dogs would bring to all people that were around them.
